Rascals

PreviousNext

Hindi, Comedy, 2011, Color

Two cool competing conmen, Chetan (Sanjay Dutt), and Bhagat (Ajay Devgn) are constantly at each other's throats, trying to out-scheme each other and win the hand of the super rich heiress, Khushi (Kangna Ranaut)...

If you want to see a brainless comedy with zero IQ that is bereft of even a wafer-thin story, and is dependant mostly on unfunny juvenile gags, one after another, played out by two 40 plus heroes (one is, in fact, 50 plus) playing retards and making the most awkward funny faces in the name of comedy, with a shrieking empty-headed heroine for company (who still can't speak a line of dialogue properly), mixed with just enough sexual innuendo to have the 17 somethings laugh uproariously - all this while watching the sad decline of a director who was a master of the genre of the illogical comedy in the 1990s, and seeing for yourself just how badly he has rehashed his extremely enjoyable old hit (Deewana Mastana), then Rascals is just the film for you - one more in the long list of the Housefulls, Readys and Double Dhamaals. And chances are you'll enjoy it.

At the other end of the spectrum, if you think that good, entertaining, comic films on relevant issues can yet be made by taking a nicely plotted human story, infusing it with some great moments, while having a coherent screenplay with a well focussed narrative flow having genuinely funny situations and aided by well-fleshed out characterisations performed more than ably by the actors - the Munna Bhai films for instance (and remember, we have a common hero here and in Rascals) - you will NOT like Rascals!

It's as simple as that. Really!
