O Teri

2014, Color

A story around two bumbling journalists, a broken bridge, and an evil nexus between a build and a politician. For a film that borrows so heavily elements from an all time great, O Teri is an insult to the memory of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro whenever it is invoked.

There isn't one cohesive idea around which the plot is built. The first half of the film revolves around a missing corpse, and the second half switches to a missing CD (how many years was this film in the making?). In either case, the treatment is littered with cliched situations with stereotyped characters. Randomly punctuated by dance numbers whose lyrics are incoherent in any language, there is little by way of engagement that the film offers.

Technically there is nothing worthwhile to talk about, with basic aesthetics in sound, editing and camerawork missing. The ensemble cast is defeated by the competency of the filmmakers, and you're left with nothing to discuss or debate on the film.

Best avoided.
